MUSIC STIRS THE SOUL

​In its latest music event Live Music Movement Foundation partners with Be The Match Foundation to use music as a healing modality to address and raise awareness of blood cancer diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell anemia.

​For many people, listening to or making music is an absolute pleasure. Consider also that music, a beloved form of entertainment for some and a passion or career for others, has a significant role in the care of cancer patients. Music therapy may accompany medical treatment to promote wellness, manage stress, alleviate pain, enhance memory, help patients communicate and express feelings, and even promote physical rehabilitation. Studies have shown that making or listening to music can even lower blood pressure and heart and breathing rates. (Cancerconnect.com)

​Carol Martin Hicks was recently diagnosed with leukemia.  As an African American diagnosed with leukemia after surviving Breast Cancer, Carol Martin Hicks was told only 7% of the 10 million registered bone marrow donors in the U.S. are of African American heritage. These numbers are staggering, but YOU can help increase her odds and the odds of others find their bone marrow match.

​​Rebecca L. Henry graduated from UCLA School of Law in 1993.  She is in private practice handling a variety of legal matters including but not limited to business transactions, litigation, criminal defense and immigration.  Ms. Henry attended the University of California, Irvine and graduated in 1989.  While attending UCI,  she joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.  She is a sorority sister to Cheryl Brown, LMMF’s treasurer, and also Carol Martin Hicks.  Ms. Henry loves all types of music.  Her favorite jazz singer is Helen Humes who sang with Count Basie.  She has passed on her love of music to her teenaged daughter who is a self described hipster.   She likes all types of artistic expression including reading her favorite poet Rumi, art house movies, fashion and helping people.  She welcomes legal referrals.
